Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 22, 2026

Welcome to Wispy. Your privacy is an absolute priority for us. Since our social layer operates by mapping the real world, we handle your geolocation data with the utmost ethical and technological rigor. This policy explains transparently and directly how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

1. Data We Collect

We collect and process the following categories of data to provide our core service (3D Map, GPS Rooms, User Profile)

  • Geographical Position Data (GPS): Your location is used exclusively in two cases and is never saved directly in our database:
    1) Room Creation: there is an instantaneous application-side check to validate that the user is physically in the correct building to generate the room.
    2) Local Interaction: when a user is in a room and does not voluntarily deselect the "Local" toggle. In this case too, coordinates are not saved, but the sent message simply receives an isLocal=true flag in the database.
  • Profile Data: Username, bio, profile photo, and optional links to social networks (Instagram, TikTok, Twitch).
  • Social Interactions: History of messages exchanged in public room chats, history of "Drops" (time-limited Karma), and Coupons saved in the Wallet.

2. How We Use Your Data

Information usage is strictly limited to:

  • Managing the spatial layer of the Wispy app (showing you on the 3D Map relative to other users or businesses).
  • Security and moderation (identifying abusive behavior through the Karma and Trust Factor system).

3. "Ghost Mode" and Your Control

We believe in the right to remain invisible. The Wispy app natively integrates a Ghost Mode: you never appear on the map and no one can know where you are. Your exchanges in the neighborhood chat are anonymized and sent as "remote" to ensure maximum privacy.

4. Security and Retention

We use TLS/SSL end-to-end encryption protocols for all network data. As described previously, we never save or record your raw GPS coordinates in any way on the database. We only keep essential profile data and anonymous transactional metadata (such as the isLocal=true flag) as long as you choose to keep your account active.

5. GDPR Rights

We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). As a European user, you have the right to:

  • Download a complete archive of all your data associated with the account from the app in a readable format (Portability).
  • Modify your identifiers;
  • Request total and permanent erasure with the immediate and irreversible deletion of your account and your content;

For complex privacy requests, you can contact our DPO (Data Protection Officer) by writing to: hello@wispy.app.
